Sustainable Fibre Solutions exists to - via cutting-edge technology – produce natural fibres for the creation of products that, while sustaining the ecology and economy, add value to everyday life.
KENAF is grown, harvested and processed outside a little town called Winterton in the Natal Midlands; the biggest and most technologically-advanced processing plant of its kind in the world.
Growing KENAF is one way to effectively contribute in the fight against global warming. The KENAF plant super-efficiently absorbs carbon dioxide and retains carbon.
KENAF can be used where a lightweight, cost-effective, non-petroleum-reliant, fibrous material is required; from an absorbent of chemical and/or oil spills to pulp for paper; from providing fibre for automotive trim, thermal and sound insulation to particle board for the building industry.
Sustainable Fibre Solutions has created a trust fund – the KENAF Foundation Community Trust - to incorporate black economic empowerment which will see this crop grown in traditional rural areas.
